

Patricia Eto Barry was born of the Royal House of Eto in Fukuoka, Japan on January 17, 1936 and passed away at her home in Lago Vista, TX on January 6, 2022 at the age of 85. She was the last of the Royal House of Eto and a 50-year resident of Lago Vista. Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Col (Ret.) Billie J. Barry, mother, father, and eight siblings.
At an early age, Patricia contracted a fever so severe, her family prepared her funeral, and her father began euthanasia. After the initial injection, a pulse was detected, she revived but subsequently lost her memory and all her hair.
Patricia arrived in the United States in December 1953 at the age of 17 after receiving a full scholarship in academics to any Ivy League university of her choice. She attended Penn State University, and graduated in 1958. Patricia became a naturalized citizen of the United States on November 9, 1959. In the early to mid-1960’s, Patricia modeled for Cover Girl magazine as a result of her beautician submitting a photo of her hair in a nationwide contest. She later met her future husband while in Florida and they married July 22, 1970 in Austin, TX. They made their home in Lago Vista after Bill’s retirement in 1972 only to be offered a senior position in Northrop of which they spent 10 years in Saudi Arabia. Bill and Patricia had many wonderful stories to share about this time in their life. They returned to Lago Vista permanently in 1986, to embarked on world travels, playing golf, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Patricia leaves behind many people who loved and cherished her dearly: Robert G. McNiece, her companion and spouse of 19 years; stepchildren Bonnie and Tex Driver of Lahaina, HI; Jay and Norma Barry of Dripping Springs, TX; Stephanie Small of Troy, TX, and Greg and Sue Barry of La Juanta, CO; 7 grandchildren; Laura Barry, Leah Vazquez, Mike Hall, Jeff Hall, John Small Jr, Joshua Barry, Jennifer Crouch, and 10 great-grandchildren; Jasmyn Crouch, Jason Jr. Crouch, Jaiden Crouch, Nevaeh Barry, Kynley Barry, Blake Barry, and Brecken Barry; Grace Vazquez, Eddy Vazquez, and Case Hall.
Patricia was a rare soul on this earth.
A memorial service celebrating Patricia's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78750.
