Early in the pregnancy, Peter was found to be at high risk for a terminal genetic condition called Trisomy 13. This was later confirmed at his 20-week appointment, and we knew then that his time with us would be short. Because of his condition and particularly extensive heart defects, we were told to prepare for stillbirth.
Thanks to the many prayers from loved ones and beyond, Peter was born alive. In the brief but precious three and a half days Peter was with us earthside, he was surrounded by love and held nearly constantly in the arms of his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Though we wish he could have stayed with us longer, God’s plan was always to bring Peter home early. All life is worth celebrating, and Peter’s is no exception. He will be deeply missed by all who love him, and though his time here was short, he will never be forgotten.
Peter is survived by his parents, Shelton and Kirsten Zarate; his grandparents, Brian and Michelle Fishbeck, and Joe and Dena Zarate; great grandmothers Mary Ann Fishbeck and Maria Zarate and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be welcomed in Heaven by his great-grandparents George and Gladys Turney, Marvin Fishbeck, Charles and Mary Renfro, and Jose Zarate Sr.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 1pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 3201 Sunrise Rd Round Rock, TX 78665. A rosary will also start at 12:30pm for those who would like to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the following nonprofit organizations that provide financial assistance to families with medically complex children/those with terminal illnesses.
