Rene Garcia died November 29, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on November 2, 1951 in Idalou, Texas to the late Eufemia and Refugio Garcia.

He graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and received a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Texas at Brownsville.

He lived a fulfilling life and was a beloved husband, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, father in law, brother in law and the loyalist of friends.

His personality was so charismatic that he could light up a room and make everyone feel like family. He captivated his audiences with the many stories and adventures he personally experienced while growing up. He was a man who cared for all and was loved by many.

Rene is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Irene Garcia; his daughters, Roxanne (Tannon Hines) of Austin,Tx, Rita (Sergio Selvera) of Houston,Tx, Raquel Garcia of Austin,Tx; and son, Ronnie Garcia of Mission,Tx. He is also survived by his brothers, Roel and Rogelio of Houston,Tx; sisters, Guillermina and Ludivina of California, Irma of McAllen,Tx, Bella Lira of Houston,Tx; and half-brothers, Rigoberto and Ramiro of California; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eufemia and Refugio Garcia; sister, Rosa Elia Torres; brothers, Rafael and Israel Garcia; and half-brother, Ricardo Garcia.

Pallbearers: Sergio Selvera, Tannon Hines, Ronnie Garcia, Eddie Rene Garcia, Israel B Garcia, Jose Selvera, Mario Perales, Jorge Bustos

Honorary Pallbearers: Pablo Ortiz, Sergio Loya, Matt Miller, Luke Miller, Vincent Bustos

It is an understatement to say that he will be deeply missed by all his friends, family and all who knew him.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church followed by interment in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
