Richard Menchaca, Sr., died peacefully at home on the morning of May 12, 2020. He was 89 years old. Richard was born January 27, 1931 in San Marcos, Texas to Casimiro and Macaria (Hernandez) Menchaca. Richard loved America; he loved the military and served in the United States Air Force from February 16, 1946 to January 27, 1989. He served his last eight years in the Air Force Reserves. He also worked for many years for the State of Texas.
Richard and Mary Lou Zepeda were married on August 5, 2006. He and Mary Lou have been active members of Tree of Life Church in Pflugerville since 2007. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Richard enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and University of Texas Football.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Macaria Menchaca and sister, Ludivina Menchaca Reyes. Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his wife, Mary Lou Menchaca; sons, Richard Menchaca, Jr. and Jerry Menchaca and wife Anna; grandchildren, Tonya Menchaca, Adria Beltran and Richard Menchaca, III and wife Amy; great grandchildren, Loriann Menchaca, Diego Esquivel, Aloria Esquivel, Kylah Esquivel and Alicia Arias; great-great grandson, Joel Rodriguez; three nieces and one nephew; wonderful neighbors who loved him very much and a host of dear church friends.
A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Tree of Life Church, 16108 Yellow Sage St., Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Private placement of his urn will be held at a later date.
