Russ is survived by his wife, Suzin; children, Katharine Cody, Sophia Jones, and Lisa Brazeau; siblings, Peggy Draheim and Connie Larsen; grandchildren, Dominic Brazeau, Kyle Cody, Emily Brazeau and Katelyn Cody. He is preceded in death by father, Robert Higgins; mother, Eunice Perau; and step-father, Allen Perau.
Russ grew up with a small town lifestyle, surrounded by the love of his grandparents, Frank and Anna Madsen, his parents and sisters. He loved fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors which Minnesota had in abundance.
After graduating high school in 1960, Russ moved to Rochester, MN where he began his career with IBM as a Cost Engineer. While in Rochester, he also met and married Barbara Schneller. In 1965 Russell’s career took him to Boulder, CO where his daughters Katharine and Lisa were born. After several years, he transferred to San Jose, CA where he met and married Suzin Lozano and daughter, Sophia. Russ’s career took him many places, but he fell in love with Austin, TX and chose to make his home there. He and Suzin lived in the Austin area for 30 years.
Russ retired from IBM after 32 years. Upon retirement, Russ enjoyed a second career using his more creative side by building a home remodeling business where his talent and passion showed in the quality of his workmanship. He was a kind, intelligent, detailed, driven but also patient person, who enjoyed dancing, fishing, billiards (he played in many local leagues), and playing games with his family.
Upon the birth of his first grandchild, Russ made a conscientious effort to better his health to enjoy and embrace his children and grandchildren as long as time would allow.
