

Russell served in the United States Navy for several years. He later moved to Austin, where he and his wife, Juanita, shared a wonderful marriage for nearly 57 years. Russell worked for Motorola for many years before retiring.
Russell enjoyed sitting at his computer and playing solitaire. He also loved spending time on the porch feeding the birds and seeing how many he could recognize. He enjoyed bowling and playing disc golf with his sons. Russell loved good barbecue and would always say, “The only good chicken is fried chicken.”
Russell was loved by everyone and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Maness; his daughter, Kem Wier and her husband, Shane; his son, John Maness; his grandchildren, Chris Hill, TJ Moon, and Kailyn Hagar; many great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Rosa May Beal, Joan Thomas and her husband, Jimmy, and Betty Frye.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luchian Maness and Mary Maness; his son, Russell Maness Jr.; his brothers, Jack Maness, Dean Maness, and Marvin Maness; and his sisters, Laura Taylor and Ann Dunn, along with her husband, Cliff Dunn. After Russell’s passing, his sister, Pearl Hargrove, has also recently passed away.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on May 11, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will take place at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on May 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
