Ruth Beatrice Williams, 89, of Austin, TX passed away on February 20th, 2023. She was born in Moody, TX on January 19th, 1934, and was the youngest of ten siblings. Ruth graduated from Bruceville High School in 1952. Shortly after she met and married her husband Samuel Walter Williams on April 4th, 1953. Ruth and her family settled in Austin, TX where she worked at Allied Sales, Warren’s Florist, and Hillcrest Baptist Church Mother’s Day Out. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 60 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel. She is survived by her sons Steven Williams of Austin and Tracy Williams and wife Rhonda of Bastrop. She is also survived by her grandchildren Benjamin Williams and wife Cassie, Garrett Williams and wife Mandi, Shawna Farrar and husband Jeff, Samuel Williams and wife Zoe, and Brandy McDowell and husband Clayton. Her great-grandchildren Morgan, Hattie, and Oliver Williams, and Zayden and Lyla McDowell. She is also survived by her sister Iladene Hejl of Temple.
Ruth had a passion for plants and grew a beautiful garden at her home with her green thumb. She enjoyed crocheting in her free time and spending time with her family including her 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Children were an important part of her life and she spent much of her time working with the children’s ministry at her church, where she served as the Preschool Director for a time, helping raise many generations.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3838 Steck Avenue, Austin, TX 78759.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, February 27, 2023 at Moody Memorial Cemetery, 1506 Highway 317 (Avenue D), Moody, TX 76557.
