Sandra grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Sandra enjoyed many hobbies as a child. One of her favorite things was roller skating. Sandra won the title of Skating Queen in San Antonio. She always had a fiery spirit and loved being around her family and friends. She met the love of her life, Larry Shellaby through a dear friend, Janet Draper (Shellaby), who just so happened to be Larry’s sister!
Larry and Sandra fell in love and were married in May 1957. They lived in San Antonio for many years, where they welcomed their two sons, before deciding to move on to a new adventure. The wind blew them to a few different places before they landed in Elm Grove… which ended up being their small piece of paradise. Sandra enjoyed nothing more than sitting on her front porch with Larry and watching the world go by. Larry was Sandra’s person and their love story is one for the ages. They were married for 43+ years before Larry passed. Sandra continued to honor her love for him and their wedding vows for an additional 23+ years before she joined her husband in Heaven. Their legacy has touched many lives.
Sandra had a very fulfilling career working at Motorola in Sequin for 28+ years before retiring. She made many lifelong friends working at Motorola and spoke of her time there with happiness and joy. After moving in with her son, Lawrence and his family, in Pflugerville, she became the crossing guard for Rowe Lane Elementary school. Sandra absolutely loved being a crossing guard! She built relationships with all the children and their families for 10 years. Rowe Lane Elementary School was truly a love of Sandra’s.
Sandra enjoyed many things in life. She had an immense love of Texas that she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved crafting with her friends at the Cambridge Villa Apartments in their craft club. Sandra was also a wonderful dog/cat mom. She took care of her beloved pets with passion and devotion. Sandra was a wonderful gardener. She took pride in taking care of her many plants and enjoyed sharing pictures of them on Facebook so we all could enjoy them with her. She loved the color purple. Above all else, she loved her family and close friends who she considered family. Sandra wanted to spend every moment possible surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. She took great delight in seeing her loved ones succeed.
