

Santiago “Chago” Luna, age 95, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away Monday morning, October 9, 2017 at Bel Aire at Teravista surrounded by his family. Born October 23, 1921 in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Juanita (Garcia) Luna.
In 1937, Santiago moved from Wichita Falls, Texas, with his parents and siblings to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He began his career as a commercial truck driver and resided and worked in the Mexican cities of Pinos Altos, Chihuahua, Monclova, Coahuila and Monterrey, Nuevo León where he met and married the beautiful Hilda Farias Ramos in 1947. He then moved his family to Piedras Negras, Coahuila and in 1959 the family moved to Eagle Pass, Texas where he retired. To be closer to his daughters, he and Hilda moved to Austin, Texas during 1995.
Santiago loved to drive his 18-wheeler and pick-up trucks; watch western movies and baseball games; eat Mexican food; travel to Mexico to visit relatives and Eagle Pass, Texas, to visit friends. He especially loved to tell his adventurous stories of his past to everyone and spend quality time with his family.
Santiago is survived by his sons, Everardo of New Braunfels, Texas and Santiago (III) of League City, Texas; daughters, Rossana of Austin, Texas and Rebeca of Houston, Texas; sister, Dora (Luna) Kovac of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Santiago’s wife; parents; sisters: Irene, Blanca, Alicia and Rosalinda; brother: Alonzo; and sons, Hugo and Santiago (II) preceded him in death.
Rosary will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Bel Aire at Teravista and Altus Hospice in Round Rock, Texas for their strong support in his final days.
