She attended and graduated from North Harden High School in Radcliff, Kentucky. She fell in love with and married Alton C. Mays in Kentucky before they relocated to central Texas where she worked at The University of Texas in Austin. She was also a faithful and loyal member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; Sarah Greene, and Howard Julian Martin; brother, Howard Julian Martin Jr; sister, Rosalin Dixie; her husband, Rev A.C. Mays; daughter Carla Mays; and son, Byron Mays.
She is survived by her sons, Alton C. Mays, Jr and Jonathan Mays; her daughter-in-law, Shelva Mays; her sister, Donna Allen; her brother, Paul Martin; her step-father, David Greene; and her grandchildren, Kamora Mays, Devin Mays, Andre Jones, Axavier Jones.
