Stephen Eugene French

Stephen E. French, 76, of Bertram, Texas died peacefully at home on July 30, 2023, after enduring a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on January 11, 1947 in Sherman, Texas. The youngest of three sons born to Richard and Virginia French. He grew up in Sherman, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1965.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967 and served in several locations including a tour in Vietnam. While stationed at Bergstrom Air Force base in Austin, Texas he attended St. Edward's University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1974. Later he founded Travis Pool and Spa in Austin, Texas and successfully managed that company until he retired.

Steve also served in the Air Force reserves and retired as a Major in 1991. Steve always had a love for bass fishing and was so proficient at it that he moved to Pottsboro, Texas and became a professional fishing guide on Lake Texoma.

Steve is survived by his brother Ed French of Arlington, Texas, his daughters Shari French of Georgetown, Texas and Stephanie Wilkes and her husband Robert Wilkes of Bertram, Texas, two grandsons Thomas and Sam BaDour and seven cousins.

He will be remembered as a loving child of God.

A visitation for Stephen will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal service will occur Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
