

Teddy L. Henderson, 73, passed away on January 23, 2011, in Houston, Texas after an eight year struggle, waiting for a liver and kidney transplant. Teddy spent his early years in the Austin area, a graduate of McCallum High School where he enjoyed and excelled at football. He also trained at Speeds Gym in Austin, winning Golden Glove Boxing Championship with a record of 51-0, including 8 professional fights. Upon graduation, Teddy played football and attended Ranger Junior College and Eastern New Mexico University. He graduated from Southwest Texas University. Coming back to Austin, he taught Math and coached football for AISD. He later received his Law Degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. Teddy practiced law in both Houston and Austin. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, also served as a Mason, participated in the Austin Judo Club and most importantly was a Texas Longhorn. Teddy was a man of generosity, great humor and wit and could always be counted on for laughs.
Teddy is predeceased by his parents, Bill and Autrey Henderson and brother, Lewis Bill Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris “Porky” Henderson; and his daughter, Dymra Henderson-Williams and husband, Jack; step-grandsons, Zeke and James; and countless special cousins, loved ones and friends.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of Baylor College of Medicine, St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital Liver Center, the Renal Specialists of Houston and Kindred Hospital of Houston. Special appreciation to Dr. Robert Just, Dr. John Hall and Dr. Eric Roehm of Round Rock Hospital; the Doctors and staff at St. David’s Medical Center of Round Rock and Austin and Dr. Christopher Cipleu and Dr. Tom Roark of Austin, Texas for their care and kindness throughout the last few years.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 3:30 pm, in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, friends are invited to attend a Wake Service in Teddy’s Honor at the Red Rooster Tavern (formerly Tuff’s Tavern) 109 E. Pecan; Pflugerville, Texas, 512-251-4129.
