Tina Sue Haley, aged 46, passed away Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at her home in Austin, Texas, after a long struggle with diabetes. Tina was born June 3rd, 1971, in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Paul Hume Haley and Jeri Ann Jones.
While in Tennessee, she lived in the towns of Smyrna and Lavergne for the majority of her adult life until she relocated to Austin, Texas during the summer of 2012 with her four children: John, Carlos, Jesus, and Maria.
Tina will be remembered as a sweet southern soul devoted to her children. She loved to display the kids' artwork, crafts, school pictures, and drawings throughout her home and let everyone know how proud she was of their daily accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom. Tina loved family gatherings, weekend BBQs, listening to music in the car, festivals, or simply enjoying her favorite tunes with her best friend, Craig Houston, on her front porch. She very much enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends and meeting new ones. Her quiet and shy demeanor would quickly melt once you struck up a conversation with her. She effortlessly became friends with so many whom crossed her path from Tennessee to Texas.
Without a doubt she will be remembered by her community as a sincere and loyal friend and loving mother to her four beautiful children. Before diabetes took it's toll, she enjoyed sewing, baking chess pies for the holidays, watching movies at home or the theater, and never passed up an opportunity to stop at a weekend yard sale. She wasn't just a homemaker to her babies, she was their hero. As a single mom, life was not always easy for her; however, her resolve and quiet courage will forever remain a part of her legacy.
Tina was preceded in death by her father, Paul Hume Haley, and mother, Jeri Ann Jones, both of Nashville, TN; grandfather, James Jones of Smyrna, TN; sister, Sarah Gossett of Athens, AL; and, brother-in-law, Jamie Gossett of Athens, AL. Arrangements were provided by family and Craig Houston, on behalf of the children.
