Yi Un Sun, 87, peacefully passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at her home in Jonestown, TX, surrounded by her loving family. Her children would describe her as “the most wonderful mother” and all agree that they would be lucky to have her as their mother again. She was the most patient, kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly.
Yi Un Sun was born January 14, 1932 in Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong-gun Sang-myeon Yulgil-ri 342. She is the daughter of So Jum Do and Park Gan Ian. She was the oldest of four children.
On April 21, 1955 she married her husband, Yi Sun So, and enjoyed 62 years together until his death in 2016.
Yi Un Sun moved to the U.S. in 1982 with her family and lived most of her life in Round Rock, TX. She treasured her family more than anything in life. The most important lesson she taught her children and grandchildren is the importance of family- to always love and forgive one another because family is all that you have and need.
Family and food were her greatest joys. For many years Yi Un Sun could be found in the kitchen preparing delicious Korean dishes for her family to enjoy. Nothing made her happier than a table surrounded by her loved ones, eating her food and enjoying each other’s company.
Yi Un Sun is survived by her son Sung (Sook Young) and daughters Chun Hwa (Don) Agnew; Choon Sil (Eric) Taylor; Choon Jung (Jon) Detjen; and Choon Mi (John) Lee; grandchildren: Cynthia (Garrett) Morgan; Crystal (Jacob) Stevenson; Kory Taylor; Aaron and Michael Detjen; Sean and Michelle Yi and four great-grandchildren: Peyton and Austin Morgan and Alice and Clara Stevenson.
