Veronica McCreary-Oliver has gone from us, but we will not deplore thee. She will receive thee, for death has no sting, since the Savior has died. Often God sends no summons before him, but floats unseen on the breeze. Death comes on hushed footsteps to all. Thus it came to my beloved wife on February 20, 2010.
Veronica was preceded in death by her daughter, Aletha Parish Washington; father, John D. McCreary; grandmother, Florence McCreary; her sister, Deborah Louise Brooks; and sister Anna M. Dyas.
Veronica was born on March 10, 1952 in Pittsburg, California. She was the second daughter of five children born to John D. and Geraldine McCreary. Veronica met and fell in love with Kenneth D. Oliver in Tacoma, Washington. On July 4, 1985, they made their union eternal.
Veronica, lovingly known as "Ronnie", lived to serve others and was no stranger to anyone. Veronica grew up under military influence and she developed a love for the military. Veronica traveled to places where most of us will never visit or experience. She continued to serve until she was called home.
Veronica leaves her husband, Kenneth Oliver; son, Ronald Lee Bishop, Jr.; her mother, Geraldine McCreary; her brother John D. McCreary, his wife Carmen and their children Aletha and Dionne; her brother Anthony W. McCreary; her mother-in-law, Josephine Sidle; brothers-in-law, Kelvin L. Dyas, Ellis S. Brooks; Kirk Oliver, Timothy Thomas, Lark Sidle and his wife Nicole and Brandon Sidle and his wife Dana; sisters-in-law Caroline Oliver, Stephanie Jenkins and her husband Mark and Wendy Walker and her husband Verrik; step-daughter, Kenisha Trotter; grandchildren, Mahala and Alethea and Reggie Jr. and Kindell; along with other loving relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.
