

Vicenta Guerrero Silva, age 84, passed on January 13, 2025. Vicenta was born January 22, 1940 in
Lockhart, TX to the late José and Eligia (Guerrero) Silva. When she was 33, she moved to Austin, Texas. For the majority of her life, Vicenta lived in, and loved, Austin.
She wore many hats when it came to her professions. From laboring in the fields in her hometown of Lockhart, soldering parts at Tracor, caretaking for infants and cooking at many institutions, Vicenta’s adaptability was unmatched.
In addition to her family and friends, Vicenta loved flowers, her plants, song birds and ladybugs. She loved to travel, took spontaneous trips, always thought of others, and loved giving gifts. Vicenta’s true nature was that of a thoughtful and generous caregiver. Always serving as a provider to those she loved around her.
She was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and a friend to many. She was highly resourceful, an advocate for herself and her family, and was particularly opinionated.
Her quick witted humor was the type you had to experience in person to get. There was no shortage of memorable moments with her. She was sure to make you laugh.
Vicenta is survived by her children, Daniel Guadalupe Silva Sr., David Eugene Salazar, Eligia Cynthia Colburn; her grandchildren Erica M. Silva, Daniel G. Silva Jr., Paul A. Carmona, Mariah A. Salazar, David E. Salazar Jr., Sariah E. Salazar, Adrian Salazar, Ashley B. Gomez, Salome L. Colburn, Graham T. Colburn, many great-grandchildren, and her siblings Placido, Jessie, and Ignacio.
Vicenta faced some great difficulties in her life and fought very hard to overcome them. Her resilience was inspirational. She lived a life of independence she always strived for. May she rest easy and
without pain.
