Victor William Loesch, age 96, passed away June 22, 2021. He was born September 14, 1924 in Brenham, Texas to Edwin W. and Ida (Seeker) Loesch. Victor was baptized on October 26, 1924 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Texas and subsequently confirmed there on May 5, 1940. Victor entered active military service in the U.S. Navy on December 29, 1944. Following training he served as a Seaman 1st Class in a Seabee Construction battalion in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged at Camp Wallace, Texas on June 21, 1946. Victor married the love of his life, Anna Justina Drahem, May 9, 1947 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Texas (now St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Texas). Victor worked as an Operator and a Shift Supervisor at Diamond Alkali’s (later Diamond Shamrock’s) Green’s Bayou plant following his and Anna’s move to Houston. He retired from Diamond Shamrock on December 1, 1982. Victor and Anna were members of Christ Lutheran Church and Joy Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas for many years. He had a love for people and doing God’s work through his volunteer work with Laborers for Christ, Lutheran Thrift Stores, Braille Workers and Angel Food. He also enjoyed doing his own maintenance on his house and vehicle and “fixing things.”
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 74 years, Anna, who predeceased him on June 3, 2021; his older sister, Hildegard, and his older brother, Gilbert. Those left to cherish his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Loesch; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Alvin Teinert; grandchildren, Steven Loesch, Erin Loesch Acevedo and husband Adrian; John Ray and wife Luvena; Jennifer Teinert Sexton and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Heather, Nathan and wife Hannah, David, Brianna, Nick, Annamarie, Selena, Colton, Nolan, Kayla, Micah and Emma; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
