

Virginia Elizabeth Sturdivant Woods, born July 11th, 1927, of Austin Texas, passed peacefully on Saturday June 7, 2025, at the age of 97 years young. She is survived by her brother Dwight Sturdivant and wife Judy. Her son, David Arthur Woods, daughter Carolyn Elizabeth Woods Miller and husband Marcus. Her grandchildren: Heather, Michael and wife Lizzie, Meritt and husband Kevin and great-grandchildren Bodhi and Bridget.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband Arthur Meritt Woods, her parents Freddie Bib Sturdivant and Bertie Belle Conner Sturdivant, siblings, Vera Scott; Freddie Lee Sturdivant; Joyce Barker and their spouses.
As an educator in the Texas public school system for over 50 years, she took many students to National and International High School Science Fairs. Later moving into administration as Science Coordinator for Round Rock ISD then Executive Director for the Science Teachers Association of Texas. All while continuing her personal education with multiple higher degrees, including a Masters in Religious Sciences.
After several decades in the field of education, she retired to continue her tradition of road trips with her family and her lifelong passion of service to the Church. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church Round Rock for 55 years including her always cherished Joy Class.
Although she will be missed dearly, her passion for education will live on through all that were lucky enough to know her. Always remembering her life motto, stay inquisitive and keep learning, no matter the age.
