Just saw this  and brought a smile to my face seeing his picture, he was a great guy with a grumpy exterior. We snowmobiled and worked together for yrs till he moved to Tx, then it was an occasional call just to say hi. We had some great times thru the years and send our condolences to his wife and kids as he is gone but not forgotten!!

So sorry to hear about Wally...lots of memories from our childhood and living all together on Damen Avenue when my parents divorced. I remember when he started dating Laurel and how happy he was. We had some fun times!
Hope all the family finds comfort and peace as they adjust to life without him.

Well Wal the time has come to bid farewell at least for now My fondest memories were from Harvard Ave when we were kids and the wonderful times at the farm swimming in the evening and A&W root beer also you sitting on Butch's tractor playing farmer Wal. You were quite the jokester and enjoyed embarrassing me when your friends were present. You were a brother I was proud of for your family values and kindness. I shall miss the laughter that we shared when we did get together. Thanks for being you.

My prayers and sympathies are extended to my sister-in-law Laurel. To my nephew, Kurt and his wife, Kim, and their combined children. To my niece, Kristin and her husband, Jay, and their two daughters. 

I am remembering with you a life that was so important to your lives. Please be comforted, at this most difficult time knowing that you are surrounded by many who understand. They too share in your sorrow and loss.

I also want my sisters to know that I share their sadness and I hope you will find strength and comfort from those that are dear to you; Mark, Randy, and your children.

My brother who also stepped in as a father.  Walking me down the aisle on my wedding day; giving guidance on life & financial matters.  Like Mike I remember the rides in his beloved Pontiac GTO, his Little Pig Truck, or the Texas Caddie - King Rancher!  His growling exterior but big teddy bear demeanor. Always the kidder, scaring the hell out of Su and I on Damen Avenue when we were small and great Halloween stories from Bluebird Lane..  To me the best big brother;  I already miss you and wish I could laugh with you one last time. Rest in peace or walk wherever you want with your new legs and healthy heart.  All my love, Sandy

Mr. Bjork was a father figure for me that will be  greatly missed.  He taught me to drive stick in 1985 in the Datsun behind Rolling Meadows High School.  He certainly had a lot of patience with me ... even if he didn't understand my fear of wrecking his car! Another iconic memory was his Pontiac and going for rides in the summer. He would wear his fisherman's hat - drive with one hand on top of the steering wheel cruising about 20 miles an hour along the frontage road of 53.  All of the sudden out of no where he would shift gears and punch it.  Head snapped back - stomach in my throat - What a thrill that was!!!  He had this tough exterior and yet anytime I was in town he would make sure to give me a big bear hug.  I will miss Mr. Bjork and I hope I will get to see him again someday.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  I worked with Wally at American Airlines and he was such a wonderful man.  My thoughts and prayers are with you Laurel, and all the family.  I know he will be sorely missed.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

 Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
 Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
 That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
 God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

 It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

 God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not  be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Wally was one of the first friends I made in Texas.  While he relished the "Grumpy" title his loved ones bestowed on him teasingly, and sometimes tried to live up to that, we all saw right through it.  Wally had a heart of pure gold and was truly one of the kindest, most generous, and caring men I have ever had the honor to call my friend.  He was sheer genius when it came to mechanical or engineering issues and was indeed a "Fixer." RIP Wallinator.  You are an original and will live on in our hearts. Prayers to your beautiful wife and children and grandchildren.   xxooxx
