Austin Rueter born in Dumas, Texas on August 2, 1986, died in San Antonio, Texas, on November 2, 2014. He was 28 years old. Being born the Sesquicentennial year of Texas, he was a special child, a beautiful boy and precious man. He was the only and beloved son of Matthew and Roberta Rueter and much loved brother of Micah Rueter. Austin fought a long and hard battle against clinical depression.
Austin accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child and was baptized in First Baptist Church of Pflugerville. Therefore, we are confident that the good work that was begun in him has now been carried on to completion. We will see him again!
He graduated from Pflugerville High School in 2005 and attended Northwest Vista Community College and Texas State University. He will be remembered as an exceptionally bright and talented individual with unlimited potential. Whatever he put his mind to he was able to master. Austin was especially gifted in the area of math, an attribute he inherited from his grandfather, Bill Rueter. When Austin’s disease was not plaguing him, he was a joy to be around and his quick wit, wry sense of humor and sweet smile made any gathering more fun and entertaining.
He is survived by his parents, his sister, the son of his heart Averee Mauricio, grandmothers, Jo Lasker and Pat Rueter, aunt Amy Sibley and husband Dean, uncles John Rueter and wife Jana, Bill and Ted Lasker and their families; cousins Christopher (wife Shannon and daughter Adelynn), Katie and Julia Rueter, Will and Grace Sibley and Hope and Hayden Hersey. As well as many friends, both old and new. His beloved dog, Mickey was a major part of his life and will miss him too. He joins his grandfather Dr. Bill Rueter in Heaven, continuing the unbroken family circle there. He is also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Ree Lasker. We pray that he has found the peace that eluded him in life.
Charitable donations may be made in Austin’s name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
A family graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
