Airong Yu Zhen, 78, passed away on September 13, 2011. Born On February 16, 1936 in Canton, China, she graduated from Changsha Normal College in 1955 and became a teacher for 33 years. In 1962 she married Shuoqin Zhen, and together they raised two daughters. Mrs. Zhen came to Phoenix in 1988. In 1991, she and her husband established Arizona Chinese News, Inc. and subsequently became the chief-editor of the newspaper. From 1993 through 1998, she became the Yee Fong Toy Magazine editor for the United States. Having put her profession before her personal health, she decided to retire in 2002. With new found free time, she finally had the time to spend with her family. However, her health started declining soon after retiring and she started her long battle against End Stage Renal Disease. Mrs. Zhen enjoyed eating, spending time with her friends, gardening, listening to music and staying in touch with her many students. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and four grandchildren.
