Jean (Hensley) Hicks was born in Indiana but moved to Phoenix in 1947 with 2 friends who wanted to get out of the cold winters and find their careers in Arizona. Jean loved her adopted state of Arizona and met and married her husband John Hicks Jr. (died April 10, 2008) here in Arizona. After a brief 10 year span back in Illinois where her children Pam (Watts) and John III were born; they once again came to Phoenix to stay. Jean enrolled in Real Estate School and as they say, ‘The rest is history’! She loved selling houses. She could drive down the streets of Willo, Palmcroft, FQ Story, Encanto Vista and point out all of the homes she had sold over her career, many of them more than once! She was key in getting many of the historic districts in place. She loved the history of the old neighborhoods!
She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She gave so much of herself to her family. We will all miss her greatly, but will carry on the legacy of love that she gave to us. She had a life well lived!
Thank you to all of her caregivers and Hospice of the Valley for taking such wonderful care of her.
