Alicia was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the second oldest of eight girls to her mother, Misty Rodriguez. In 2002, when Alicia was just eleven years old, their mother passed away at the age of 28. Following this devastating loss, Alicia and her sisters were lovingly adopted and raised by their grandparents, Jose and Yvonne, who nurtured them in both Phoenix and New Mexico. Growing up in a home full of siblings, cousins, love, and laughter shaped Alicia into the strong, loyal, and deeply family-oriented woman she became.
Alicia attended M.C. Cash Elementary in Phoenix and Ann Parish Elementary in New Mexico. Throughout her school years, she lived between New Mexico and Arizona, eventually attending high school in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
Alicia was truly one-of-a-kind. She was kind, funny, unfiltered, sassy, and always full of life. If she thought it, she said it — and everyone who knew her loved that about her. But beneath that fire was a soft and loving heart. Alicia would help anyone, even when she had little to give. She showed her love through laughter, presence, and food — she loved to bring family together with big meals, bonfires, and holidays that she always made special.
She was talented with her hands and proud of the skills she learned from her grandfather. She loved anything that involved getting her hands dirty. She loved the outdoors, camping under the stars, dancing to Mexican music, and being surrounded by her people. Alicia was the party planner. If Alicia said, “We should have a party,” you already knew it was happening — probably the next day.
Even while fighting cancer, Alicia continued to show strength, humor, and love. Her sister’s began Alicia’s Fight, represented by the colors maroon and white, In support of her, so she would never feel alone in her battle. “Her fight is our fight”. #ALICIASFIGHT. Her courage inspired many.
Alicia leaves behind her beloved children: Anadia, Aracely, Andres, Armando, Antonio, and Adan.
She is also survived by her siblings: Amber (Ruben), Amelia (Christina), Ashley (Deserae), Alora (Fernando), Ayla, Alina, Anahi, Rosemary, Susan, Jose (Sheila), Mark (Sally), James, Andrea, and Ray (Ashley) and Felix who also played a big father role in her life a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and lifelong friends including Lupita, and Alisha.
She was inseparable from her cousins Devon and Miranda, and close to Joanna, who was like a sister.
She was welcomed into heaven by her mother Misty, her Tata Jose, her nephews Kristopher and Angel, Mamaw, nana Fina, Uncle Ray, Uncle Mac, Tio Ruben, cousin Marcos and so many others who have been waiting to embrace her once again.
