Marie Howe age 91 passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her three loving daughters: Pat Wallick, Debby Jones, and Jan Paris: her six grandchildren Shelley Dean Lee, Lance Wallick, Stephaney Wild, Casey Jones, Stacy Davies, and Misti Tesar: eleven grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
She was born in Pearson, Arkansas to Orville and Thelma Holland on January 5, 1927 the youngest of five children. They would later move to Tucson and then settled in Avondale when Marie was in her early teens. She was destined to meet her husband, Delbert Howe at a high school dance while living there. They were married on February 11, 1944. Shortly after they were wed, Delbert was drafted and proudly served in World War II. During his absence Marie gave birth to their first child, Pat. While he was overseas, she also worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company. After Delbert was wounded and returned from the war, they opened HOWES Grocery store where she worked alongside him for many years. Their family grew with the additions of Debby in 1952 and Jan in 1955.
Sadly she lost her beloved Delbert to Cancer in 1982. This devastating loss at such a young age served to bring this family even closer. Marie’s life was enriched by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren until the day she passed. Marie was an Angel during the time she spent on earth; touching everyone’s heart as only she could…We are sure she will take on her heavenly angel position with the same love and grace.
She will be laid to rest during a private ceremony beside our father at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery on April 13, 2018…she will live forever in our hearts.
