Anna Marie (Marie) was born on October 31, 1935, the second youngest of 5 girls to Vernie May (Bentley) and Henry Emmerson Nunn, in Chandler, Arizona.
Marie grew up all over Arizona as her father was a cowboy working on various ranches throughout the state. She attended school when she could, but mostly helped out at home and spent precious time with her siblings.
Marie later lived in Phoenix where she met and married the love of her life, George Vanni. Together they raised three children. She worked as a supervisor at Camp Trails in Phoenix where she made backpacks.
Marie's favorite time of the year was Christmas. She spent months decorating her entire house each year, welcoming family, friends, and neighbors in to enjoy. She loved Christmas shopping, ensuring each family member received the same amount of individually selected gifts. It would take her weeks to beautifully wrap each present and hours for everyone to open. Marie also ensured everyone was well fed.
Marie also hosted other family get togethers including the 4th of July, wedding receptions, Thanksgiving and New Years. She and George were the glue that held this close knit family together.
Marie will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness and generosity, and her delicious turkey stuffing and potato salad.
Marie leaves behind her daughter Beverly (Michael) Colletto; son Bruce “Joe” (Barbara) Petrauschke; grandchildren Jill, Jenny, Brian, Carrie, Steve, Kim, Jeff, Michael and Lisa; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Marie was greeted in Heaven by her husband George; daughter Frankie Lee Cage; parents Vernie and Henry; and her sisters Mildred, Thelma, Ruth and Ida May.
