Anne was one of eight children born to Maria Wilhelmine (née Wilmkes) and Kaspar Steins. Her early life was shaped by the hardships of World War II, an experience that left a lasting impression and helped form the resilience and strength that defined her character throughout her life.
In 1960, Anne emigrated to the United States, settling in Southern California. She was immensely proud to become a U.S. citizen, embracing her new life with determination and enthusiasm. For more than 30 years, Anne enjoyed a fulfilling career with the U.S. Postal Service, where she made many lasting friendships.
After retiring, Anne moved to Phoenix and spent her final 12 years at Pueblo Norte Senior Living in Scottsdale. There, she found a second family in the wonderful friends and staff she cherished, and she deeply appreciated all that this community had to offer.
Family was at the heart of Anne's life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, known for her steady presence, wisdom, and unwavering support. She gave generously of her time and care, and her strength and compassion left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Anne is survived by her daughters, Beate (Mohren) Yancy and Cindy (Moore) Cebulak, their husbands Alan and Glenn, and her beloved grandchildren, Erin (Jon), Morgan (K.C.), Nicole (Jacob), and Lauren (Drew), as well as her great-grandchildren, Allison, Everly, Blake, and Grey. Together, they will continue to honor her memory and the
values she held dear.
Anne is also survived by her younger brother, Günther Steins, and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany and the U.S.
Anne will be deeply missed, but her spirit, strength, and the lessons she shared will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in May at Pueblo Norte Senior Living Community. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
