Anthony Joseph Pescatore of Peoria, AZ passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 14, 2022, at the age of 90. Pop was born of Italian immigrants on January 28, 1932, in Chicago, IL. He was the youngest of six children and grew up in the little Italy section of Chicago off Taylor Street.
After graduating high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea, earning a Purple Heart during his service time. Upon his discharge, he returned to Chicago to work in the insurance industry. In the 1960s, he worked in the new contact lens and eyecare sales industry for Wesley Jensen. He returned to the insurance industry in the early 1970s. He finished his career at Prudential Insurance Company, where worked in sales, served as a sales manager and as an investment advisor.
While in Arizona over the last 22 years, he never lost his love for Chicago Sports or food. He loved rooting for all the Chicago sports teams from afar. No matter how frustrating at times it got, he would always root them on.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 58 years Florence T Pescatore, and his two sons Anthony (Jennifer) of Paradise Valley, AZ and Joseph of Burns Harbor, IN. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren – Caroline (23), Charles (17) and Nico (13).
The family would like to thank the entire medical and ICU staff at the VA – both at the Northwest Clinic and the main Phoenix hospital, for the care and compassion they showed Pop and our family in his final days.
Services will be private, and final internment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.phoenixmemorialmortuary.com for the Pescatore family.
