Barbara Jean McCarthy, went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2012 after a brave battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, February 19, 1928, to William Otho and Bertha Mae McBride. She resided in Phoenix her entire life. Barbara attended Phoenix Union High School, and worked for 11 years in the Display Ad department of the Republic and Gazette before becoming a dedicated homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was always active in her local church and ministry, working side by side with her husband of 49 years, Marvin L. McCarthy, before his passing in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra; son, Marvin Jr.; three grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan and Brandon McCarthy; and her two sisters, Billie Hamm and Sherry Jaco; and many special extended family members. She was humble yet strong, and a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 9:00 to 10:00AM, with funeral sevices beginning at 10:00 AM at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Phoenix Christian High School, 1751 W. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85015.
