Growing up, Barbara always stood out...she was pretty, talented, smart and the boys really liked her!   She also had beautiful dark, thick, wavy, hair and long fingernails.  I, on the other hand was "cute" with mousy-brown, fine, straight hair and brittle nails and boys were a complete mystery to me.  In spite of these differences, we were as close as twins.  We laughed together, played together, slept and cried together with hardly a harsh word spoken.  We were also a formidable force in our battles with our brother, Pete.     
My sweet sister, I'll always love you and look forward to the time we can laugh, play, cry and pile on Pete together again!

RIP LOVE YOUR BABY BOY TIMOTHY

Barbara and Elmer were married just before I was born, so we did not share childhood, but as I was growing up I spent many fun times with my nieces and nephews. When I grew up, I remember sharing many fun and funny times with my sister and her family.  There was much game playing, picnics and family parties and much laughter always.  She could always bring humor to any situation.  She was eternally tardy, and that became a family joke that even she could laugh at herself.  Independent, opinionated and strong, I admired my sister in many ways.  Nothing could keep her down.

For a period of time I was close to Barbara and her family.  She opened her home to me and was my second mother.  I will always remember how strong and bold she was, not afraid to live and dream.  If you knew Barbara, you had better hold on tight, you were in for an adventure.  She saw me at my best, and worst, she was a guide for me through many of life's ups and downs, disappointments, heartbreaks and joys,  She helped me to grow.  In these last few years I have drifted from the family somewhat, but I always kept her In my soul.   I have this message for Barbara's family, especially for her grandchildren, the main impression I will take from her, is to pursue your dream and not be afraid to live.

To my dearest cousin Barbara Katherine, we were both named after our paternal grandmother, Katherine.  As children we were all inseparable, playing ghost, eating raw cake dough! and dressing up for the Fiesta in Santa Fe.  What wonderful memories I have of those times together.
