Bessie L. Carpenter, 91 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on April 4, 2013. An Arizona native she was raised in the small mining towns that surround the Phoenix area. During World War II she worked at Goodyear Airport as a wing welder on airplane bombers. An old fashioned woman who was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Bessie was a friendly person who visited neighbors and friends. She loved flowers and gardening and had beautiful flowers out front and the biggest garden outback including delicious vegetables and fruit trees. She did some animal farming and provided cow and goat’s milk to neighbors. She enjoyed fishing and horseback riding. Bessie is survived by her son Victor Oliver, daughter Linda Cooley, grandchildren; Lonnie, Travis, Scott, Heath, Lisa, Debbie, and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Carpenter. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave. Glendale, Arizona.
