Bradley Ralph Power, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on August 5, 1955, Brad grew up in Grand Valley, Colorado. His parents moved him and his siblings to Dutch John, Utah, in 1966 where he went on to graduate from Manila High School, class of 1973.
Brad served as a United States Air Force Munitions Systems Specialist from 1973 to 1977. He was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, earning his private pilot's license and traveling extensively. While at Ramstein, he visited distant relatives in various countries. Brad was then stationed at Canon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico, where he honorably separated after serving his country proudly. He then pursued his Aircraft and Powerplant Certification in Douglas, AZ, and then went on to serve the State of Arizona, Department of Public Safety, establishing and supervising the Maintenance Program for the States’ Fixed and Rotor wing aircraft. He retired after 25 years.
In 2002, Brad proudly started Power Aviation where he maintained aircraft for loyal clientele and greatly influenced the Phoenix General Aviation community. When Brad retired from State Employment, he decided to work full time doing what he loved - maintaining aircraft, working and flying on various aircraft he has owned, and being around fellow aviators.
A man of many skills and passions, Brad was well-known for his work as an aircraft mechanic and pilot. Renowned for his expertise, he spent his career ensuring the safety and excellence of the planes he serviced. Earlier this year, the FAA recognized Brad with The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award and The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for his 50 years in aviation.
Brad was married to his beloved wife, Rita, for 22 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories. Brad was a Christ follower, and we take comfort in knowing he is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Power, and mother, Edith Power. He is survived by his sister Trudi Thoren; brothers - Douglas Power (Gretchen), Lonnie Power (Joann), and Lynn Luick (Elma); children - Jasmine Tucker (James), Steve Williams (Elaine), Glenn Power, Aaron Johnson (Christy), Becky Yaeger (Mike), Theresa Wallburg (Adam), Ari Johnson (Brazil), and Grace Holstrom (Ryne). He was also a proud grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Brad was an avid hunter and enthusiastic hiker, a man with a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in the deserts, mountains, and forests, especially when hunting elk. His passion for nature, adventure, and exploration was matched only by his commitment to family and friends. Brad was also an avid reader and possessed a great thirst for knowledge.
Brad will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
