Buddy Wong Hing

Buddy Wong Hing, 90, went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025. Born June 25, 1935, in Canton, China. He immigrated to Phoenix in 1948 and worked at the family’s grocery store called Starlight Market. Buddy graduated from Arizona State University in 1957 with an accounting degree. He served as an internal auditor with Maricopa Community College for over 30 years. Buddy was a charter member of Northwest Chinese Baptist Church, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in April 2025. He was an active member and served as the church’s business manager, deacon and usher. He helped organize numerous activities throughout the years, including one of his favorites: church retreats.

Survived by his wife, Jeanette, whom he was married to for 58 years, together they raised their family of four children: Rodney Hing [Som], Christi Hing, Jon Hing [Lena], and Debbie Yee [Stephen] along with nine grandchildren: Noah, Brayden, Jacob, Elizabeth, Caleb, Allison, Hannah, Natalie and Lydia. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, November 1 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at Serenity Chapel, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am and interment thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Chinese Baptist Church (4243 W. Greenway Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85053).
