

Cecil passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, November 1st, 2014 after a short bout with cancer. He was born February 12, 1924 in Barren County, Kentucky to Alford Earl Lawrence and Bonnie May Barrick who proceeded him in death. He married Beatrice Bailey on November 23, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana and she also proceeds him in death as well as wife, Patsy Lawrence. He is also proceeded by siblings Bill, Alton, Alford, James, Edith, Clair and Faydell. He is survived by one sister, Nadine. He is also survived by one son, Garath (LeeAnn) Lawrence, granddaughter, Tina (Tom) Fansler, three great grandchildren, Alexa and Kyler Overton and Tommy (Allysa) Fansler IV, two great-great grandchildren, Jaylee and Tommy V. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cecil served in Burma, China and India during World War II which he spoke of proudly quite frequently. He then went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He and Bea owned restaurants in Indianapolis and Lawrence before retiring to Phoenix, Arizona in 1978. He never knew a stranger, always teaching honesty and hard work.
Cecil left a legacy of his love and faithfulness to his Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved his church family and will be missed greatly. Heaven is rejoicing that another child has come home.
Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility who cared for him out of love and respect. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the Valley for the loving care he received during his illness and passing.
Visitation will be held Tuesday November 4, 2014 from 4:00 PM tio 7:00 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85027. The Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday November 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85027.
