Charles Jelks was born on February 1, 1952 in Shreveport, LA, to Will Upshaw and Flora Stine Broom. He was the sixth of nine siblings. Charles accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA by Rev. J.C. Gilley. He attended school in Shreveport.
His mother Flora Stine Fuller, sister Betty Jean Broom and brother Joseph Gardner preceded Charles in death.
He was employed as a truck driver (furniture delivery).
He had a love for family, music (loved to dance), western movies, and gardening.
A memorial service for Charles will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at South Phoenix Missionary Baptist Church, 2006 E. Broadway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85040.
