

C. T. (Tom) Robertson III passed away on April 30, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 15, 1917, he was a long-time resident of Pittsburgh, PA before retiring to Scottsdale, AZ. He graduated from Lehigh University. A dedicated Marine, he served in the Pacific Theater with the combat engineers of the 6th Marine Division from Guadalcanal to post-war Tokyo and saw extensive combat action in Guam and Okinawa before retiring with the rank of Major.
His entire professional career was spent with the industrial chemicals division of PPG Industries, where he served in several executive sales and marketing positions before retiring in 1982 as Director of Sales and National Accounts. Robertson was recognized by the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) as its supplier of the year in 1981. In addition to his involvement with NACD, he was a member of the Drug, Chemical, and Allied Trades Organization and the National Account Marketing Association. He was also associated with the Chemical Manufacturers Association and the National Purchasing Managers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. T. Robertson, Jr. and Louise, sister Helen, wife Freda, and son Richard Biddle Robertson. He is survived by wife Burnice Knowles Robertson, daughters Barbara Kreuser and husband Rick of Baton Rouge, LA and Judi Hayer and husband Al of Phoenix, AZ, grandsons Richard C. Kreuser of Rochester Hills, MI, Stephen Gunter and wife Wendy of Gilbert, AZ, and great-grandchildren Calvin and Casey Jane Kreuser and Lauren Gunter.
Tom will be remembered for his dedication and generosity to his family and friends, the Marine Corps, and his professional colleagues. He was an active member of the Lions Club for many years, and attended Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale. An avid golfer and long-time member of Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, he was also a skilled duplicate bridge player.
