Cheryl Denece May, affectionately know as "Bobbie" by those who knew and loved her, was born March 25, 1957 in Chicago, IL. and departed this life on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at age 55. She was the daughter of the late Bessie Burns and the late Lee Roy Wilson. Cheryl was raised on the westside of Chicago where she attended Proviso East High School. She had four sisters: Julia, Clyde, Melba, and the dearly departed Rochelle. She had one brother, Thomas. Cheryl relocated to Phoenix , Az. In 1999 where she built a new life and close network of friends and extended family. She was employed by Apria Healthcare where she worked diligently and with dedication for over 7 years. Cheryl is survived by one son, Micah, a daughter in law, Tanisha, two grandchildren, Chase and Carwyn, close friend Crystal Moynes who she considered a daughter, honorary grandchildren Steven and Noah, her brother and sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cheryl had a heart of gold. Her joyous spirit was hard to ignore. She made an impact on all those who were lucky enough to know her. She was a giving person who believed that our greatest blessings come from helping others. Cheryl found value in the small precious moments of life. Her love for her family and her closest friends was evident. When she laughed you couldn't help but join in with her. When she spoke it commanded attention. When she had something to say she said it and if she said it she meant it. When she loved she loved hard and without conditions. Cheryl Denece May was a beacon of light for her children and grandchildren. She found her greatest joy and purpose in being a mom and grandma.
As a woman who deeply believed in God she always instructed her family not to shed tears for her because she would no longer be present in this life but present with the Lord. Today we grieve for losing our sister in Christ but we also celebrate her remarkable life of love and laughter.
