After high school Chet worked on a cattle ranch in Colorado before joining the Navy during the Korean War. After the war he settled in Northern California as a District Manager for Sears & Roebuck.
In the 1970’s Chet moved to Arizona, first to Kingman where he had a construction company and did some team roping, then to Phoenix, driving OTR for Western Gillette (Roadway). In 1979 Chet was employed by Teamster Local 104 as a Business Representative. He was a member and Past President of Teamsters Retirees & Associates, Phoenix Division, and a 53 year member of Kingman Elks Lodge #468.
He is survived by his bride of 34 years, Vicki; his son Simon (Michaele) Armstrong, his daughters Vicki (Bob) Awalt, Kathie Armstrong Putrow, Donna (Mike) Reary,; His grandchildren Danny (Michelle), Brian (Nancy), Shawna, Tyler and Ethan; his great grandchildren Daniel, Dorothy and Justin.
Chet will be interned at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with a family service on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 1:00pm. A celebration of Life will follow at the Armstrong home from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
