Clarence Jordan "Larry" Beddome

Clarence Jordan (“Larry”) Beddome passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 at age of 93 in Peoria, AZ. Larry was born in Bisbee, Arizona and was the oldest of four brothers (Robert Thom, John and Richard). He served eight years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea. He married the love of his life Lucille Salter in 1950 and was a born-again Christian.

Following his Navy service, he started an illustrious law enforcement career spanning over fifty years. He started as a Patrolman in 1954 with the Arizona Highway Patrol and rose to the rank of Major in the Arizona Department of Public Service retiring in 1974. He then served as the Executive Director for the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) which he help developed and implement while with the Arizona DPS. He then served a second career with the Arizona Department of Corrections and finishing his working career as a consultant providing arbitration with the criminal justice system.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Crawford and Ola (Jordan) Beddome and his wife of 60 years Lucille. He leaves behind his wife Marilyn Kimball Beddome, his children: Larry (Patricia) and Michael (Carol), three grandchildren (Kyle Beddome, John-Michael Beddome, and Courtney Rodriquez) and four great-grandchildren (Carter, Kendall, Owen and Lucy).

Our Dad was a man of strong spiritual faith and always had a welcoming friendship with everyone he met. He loved his family, helping his children with handy-man projects, loved his cruises, crossword puzzles, an avid reader and a doting grandfather. Dad was a positive influence on all who knew him and was constantly seeking knowledge and learning throughout his life.

A celebration of life memorial service was held November 20, 2021. Interment will be at the Sedona Community Cemetery. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Horizon Home, Peoria AZ for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The Arizona Highway Patrol Association Charities in memory of “CJ Beddome”.
