Consuelo R Irizarry

Consuelo Rios Irizarry, of Orlando, Florida passed away on December 20, 2023 in Peoria, Arizona at the age of 93. Consuelo was born on May 31, 1930 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Arturo Rios Rodriguez and Isabel Ortiz Fonrodona, as one of eight children. She spent most of her adult life working for the Government of Puerto Rico Water and Sewer Department as a Secretary. Consuelo was a devoted Catholic and prayed for her entire family and the entire world for two hours every night. She was an avid traveller, visiting Panama, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands. Everywhere she went, Consuelo boasted of her pride and love for Puerto Rico - her forever heart home. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and grandmother and was always in touch with extended family. Everyone who met Consuelo fell in love with her hospitality, quick wit and beauty. She valued independence and education, encouraged everyone she ever met to learn and speak Spanish. Consuelo died peacefully at home of natural causes surrounded by friends and family and she will be missed by all her family and friends.

Consuelo was preceded in death by both her first husband, Carlos J. Almodovar, her second husband, Carlos Irizarry and all but one of her brothers and sisters. Consuelo is survived by her younger sister, Emma Rios, her two children, Edna Del Toro and Carlos Heriberto Almodovar, her five grandchildren, Melissa Del Toro Schaffner, Karen Henson, Diana Lowe, Daniel and Brian Almodovar, and her five great grandchildren Grant, Gabi, Ava, Coco and Indi. Services are being planned to take place at a later date.

A visitation for Consuelo Rios Irizarry (Ana C. Rios) will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027, followed by a funeral service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
