Dear Lina, Diana, and family, I am so saddened to hear of Mr. Chavez's passing.  He was such a wonderful caring man. Growing up across the street from your family in the 70's and 80's, it was such a joy to have you as neighbors. My sister, Peggy, and me would hang out at your house and considered Diana as one of our best and dearest friends.  Mr. Chavez was well respected in the neighborhood and he was always willing to help anyone out. I may have been quiet and shy growing up but couldn't help but notice how he was a great role model. He was a man devoted to his family. He provided for you not only in life but in love. I remember him and his adored truck and he would always leave every day for work and be right back after work, like clockwork. He would always say hi to us when we visited and had something nice to say or would tell us a funny joke. He would bring home little special thoughtful things for Diana. As a child, one time I remember him bringing home some beautiful scrap plastic wire of all different colors and we spent hours with Diana making that wire into rings and other jewelry pieces that we could wear. Diana asked him to bring some more wire and sure enough, as we anxiously awaited, he didn't forget, he brought us more and we had so much fun making it into jewelry. I remember tagging along for a test ride down the freeway when you got a new car. It was always fun to spend time with your family. He loved the outdoors and fishing and hunting. Your yard was always well kept and he had fruit trees in the back yard and he would give us some fruit.  He was a very special man and I feel fortunate to have known Mr. Chavez and to have grown up across the street and to have witnessed how special he really was. May he rest in the arms and peace of the Lord.

Dad, I can't believe your gone. I feel like your on a fishing trip and mom and I are waiting for you to come home with lots of fish and you always had some treasures for me like the beautiful rocks or perfect pine cones you found while you were hunting so I could decorate for Christmas. I'm so blessed to have a dad like you. I miss you dearly. After work when I stop by your house I look at your recliner and it's empty and I miss you so much you were always happy to see me and ask how my day was you always had a smile on your face. Dad you can see everything now.  I bet theres a big Elk right next to you it's probably amazing. I always said to you and mom don't ever leave me because I love you both so very much what will I do without you. You were a brilliant man that could figure out anything. You had many jobs under your belt,you could fix anything that  needed repair. I always went to you and you gladly fixed it or came to my rescue and even rode horses with me. I will always remember you telling me you loved me and how tight you held my hand the day before you passed. Maybe that was your way of telling me you had to leave. Till we meet again dad.  I love you very much

My Dearest Tia Lina and family, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I will miss my Tio very much. I will always remember our great family times with Nana Petra, my mom and dad, and all the brothers and sisters. I loved the camping and singing and just the great old times with everyone. Rest in Peace Grandpa, I will never forget about you, you will always be in my thoughts. I will always remember your smile that means so much to me and remember all the things you have taught me while I was growing up. You were always there for me and even though you aren't physically now, you will always be there in heaven watching over me.
