Born Daisy Glasco to the fierce Beatrice Taylor Glasco and the brave Armstead Glasco (both deceased), Daisy was a stoic and independent mother of 3 beauties… “Me, Linda, and Brenda” (as they are affectionately known), Linda (Ken) Turner, Brenda (Fred) Chandler, and Deanna (Ron) Dunn. Her brothers Robert “Baylee” (Catherine) Glasco, Freddie “Joe” Carter, Earlean Douglas. Preceding her in death are her brothers Larry and Arthur Glasco.
“Momma”, as many knew her, was a Unit Secretary. She moved to Buffalo, NY, and worked hard for a better life, earning a certificate as a Medical Secretary (graduating with high honors from Bryant & Stratton). Then after returning to Birmingham, AL, for many years, she retired and settled with her family in Phoenix, AZ.
Our family’s matriarch…hard work, dignity, poise, and grace were central to her. No softy by any stretch. Momma raised her children and influenced her grandchildren with a stern, yet gentle, hand. Even being present at the birth of all of her descendants, traveling the distance to be there when it mattered. That is love!
Family was everything to her and she completed her journey on this earth surrounded by her family. Finally at rest, she was well-loved by so many including her grandchildren, Nacol (Ray) Bernard, Mariah Cunningham, Tia Chandler, and Romere (Janita) Chandler, and her great grandkids Clint, Sonti, Miles, Sylas, Nacol, Jabreel, Sienna, Eva, Aja, and Aliya. Love was also felt from her host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All who knew her, loved her.
“I love you more,” and “Ok, that’s enough,” she could be heard uttering her loving and comical phrases. Love, family, standards, and Jesus-centered spirituality are all parts of her legacy. Thank you for joining us as we celebrate a life so beautifully and wonderfully lived.
