Dear Deanna my friend I miss you so much.  From the first time we met in high school on the track team, to the many car rides to school and hanging out at each other's houses so many years of good times.  Then getting stationed at RAF Lakeheath and running into you and Damon at the BX on base, who knew we would meet again across the country.  Both starting our families, the many more great years we shared together laughing, growing and enjoying so many good times in England with you, Damon, Shanna and Ty.  Your smile and love for life was amazing.  I love and miss you dearly my friend. Till we meet again someday.  Our love and prayers for strength.

Deanna, it has been a year since you were taken away from us and I miss you so much. We always marveled at how we were your sponsors and that our families instantly became friends and then from friends to family. I'll never forget our Wednesdays together and chitchatting for hours upon hours. It seemed like it would take an act of God to separate us-I laugh as I think about how it would take yet another hour after saying goodbye and leaving the restaurant to get into our cars and leave the parking lot! Family game nights were always fun though once again our talking (to no surprise) inevitably would delay our playing. We simply never ran out of things to talk about. Together we celebrated birthdays, proms, graduations, promotions and finally came Damon's retirement and your move. I'll never forget those final moments of getting the last things out of the house and closing the door to your house for good and then a few days later watch you guys drive out of our driveway for the last time. Who knew the significance of those moments, for we were 100% sure we would see each other the following year upon Jay's retirement and our own journey across the country. Days before you left us, you surprised me by saying you guys would be going to Jay's retirement ceremony. That's what I loved about you; you were always there. Jay's ceremony came and I was so nervous not liking to be in front of people and not knowing what to do...oh how I wished you were there to guide me through...I could imagine you smiling telling me it would be okay, and it was but you were surely missed. Days later it was our turn to leave New England and when we made it to Texas, Damon was so kind to let us stay at the house. More memories of our times together came flooding back and my heart broke again for me-for everyone...it just wasn't supposed to be this way. I'm so thankful though for our talks about God and our beliefs because it does bring peace knowing you are seeing far more fabulous things than anything we experienced here on this earth. As I think about that, I smile once again thinking how I guess it's true we just cannot be separated as we met in New Hampshire and here we are in Arizona together again. I'm sure that as we marveled at our instant friendship that together we would marvel at how from your parent's street you can see the Safeway Jay and I worked at when we lived here 23 years ago. Sometimes I try to sift through memories wondering if we actually crossed all those years ago. Considering our friendship I wouldn't be surprised if we had. You are a rare friend and I love you and miss you, Deanna...until I see you again ❤

I just found out from a friend what happened to a friend and past co-worker. I am in shock and cannot believe it. Deanna, Damon my husband and myself did dinners many times and talked about our retirements.  Deanna I will remember the good old days at Wal Mart with you and our laughs. Till we meet again your friend Sheila

The Lord works in mysterious ways. His plan may not be clear to us now, but one day it will all make sense. I met you and your family quite a while ago in Lakenheath, UK. I then followed you to NC, Where once again, I spent time with you and your family. It wasn't a long time, and looking back, it was such a small amount of time in the grand scheme of things, however we all are connected and share a bond. I offer my sincere condolences, and prayers to you and your family moving forward, to help and support them through the very difficult journey that lies ahead. Damon, I cannot imagine the road you are about to walk down will be easy, please know you and your family are not alone, and you have plenty of friends and family offering their support along the way. No matter the distance or time that has passed, we are here for you. God Bless you and your family.

Deanna will be missed every day. She will be in my heart forever.

My friend, my heart still hurts daily for you, I just can't seem to understand why... Guess I will never get that answer. I pray you will look over your family, keep on guiding them in the right direction in which only you can, keep them safe and loved. Even though you will not be here in the physical world, I know your job as a mother and wife is not over. Know John, the boys and I will never forget the kind soul you are, and I love you dearly.........

The passing of Deanna was such a shock and I still feel that same gut emotion each time my thoughts got to her.  

Damon, Shanna and Ty...my thoughts are with you as you grieve and try to make peace with all that has happened.

How wonderful it was to reunite with you just a few weeks ago! I feel blessed to have seen the big smile on your face as we  talked about the things you loved like your kids and horses. THANK YOU DEANNA for making Damon bring the entire"Hang-up, No-ride" family for horse back riding on your birthday,  which started it all. Breakfast burritos at the fire pit, Dinners at the Tofte's watching westerns, hearing you say to Damon, "I think he's out"...of course I never was - just a little tired is all. Building the round pen, you grooming them horses in this crazy Guam heat! And looking like you're like enjoying it??? Absolutely crazy...but that's what takes if you're gonna have a ranch and do horses right. Both you and Damon had what it takes, and I saw it clear. It gave me great joy, but quietly, I dreaded the day y'all would be pulling out. It was you guys made this place western. Right people indeed. The kind of people you don't even have to shake on a deal. True western horse people. Word's gospel. I NEVER KNEW ANYONE WHO I could work in the sun with like your husband. When I was just married and a young executive for Radisson Hotels,  I asked a vice-president for TRW who was retiring,  how he got to be, and for advice, he said, "I'll tell you Pat, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my wife. 'fact is, BEHIND EVERY GOOD MAN, THERE IS A BETTER AND STRONGER WOMAN." .....I'll never forget that. IT WAS YOU DEANNA, that inspired my"Pard" Damon, to be the real man of integrity that he is. Your intense love for him shone bright everyday. One would have to be blind not to see that light. Rare stuff. MS. DEANNA CAROL TOFTE, I AM PROUD TO HAVE KNOWN YOU, and be able to say,"SHE WAS HERE...
SHE HELPED BUILD THIS RANCH." Take care my friend, I know you'll set Damon straight. Keep loving those horses.

What a complete shock to hear of the passing of such a good friend. The time we spent in North Carolina together will never be forgotten. You always had a smile and positive attitude no matter what the situation. Though you have moved on to a better place, your time spent with family and friends will never be forgotten.

Deanna, your work here on earth with your friends and family is complete . God had called you to heaven and now he needs you to watch over Damon, your children and everyone's lives you have touched.  Damon, I pray you can take comfort in knowing you have your own angel now watching over you. Your Lakenheath family will always have a connection to you and Deanna and I know we all feel the same and pray the good Lord brings you peace and comfort somehow.

Deanna was my kind, sweet, sassy, fiery sister. I'm so thankful that we got to spend a lot of time together. My fondest memories are of all us sharing a meal and then playing games for hours! We had so many good times and laughs together. She loved her kids and Damon so much. Her love for Damon was so strong and extremely loyal. They had so many plans for the second part of their life. I am so heartbroken for Damon and for all of us. We needed more time with Deanna, we all had so many plans with her. There really are no words to explain the sadness that I am feeling right now. Even though I know I will see her again in heaven, here on earth I am devastated at her passing.

Deanna, there are no words to express how truely sad I am to hear of your passing. I often think of the years at Lakenheath, and the times spent with you and Damon.  I know you will continue to look over your family, and guide Damon during these difficult times.

Damon, I am so sorry for you and the kids' loss. If you need anything, please do not hessitate to call.

Dearest Deanna, I know your spirit is watching over all  of us! Your love for Damon and the children was beautiful to be a part of. The shared times by the campfire, the rides, of course the hard work building the round pen and clearing the rocks are now all golden memories I will treasure. The times we'd go to restaurants after a hard days work and share meals and conversation were like reincarnations of another time when a solid days work and a handshake meant more than any piece of paper.  Remember how we'd have to keep towels on ice in the coolers to cool off...China, China and Roy, Poppy, Luna, and Targe are with you now and I thank you for the love and care you provided the animals and of course how you helped us too many times to count. You opened your heart and family to us. We look around the ranch and fondly remember all the projects we did together. I laugh to myself when I think of how Damon would shower in the ranch out house and say, "Babe,, we're gonna have to get one of these." Watching westerns and I loved how I would come home and find you all at my mom's kitchen table visiting my mom and dad and always remembered to send them a card and a letter for Christmas. Thank you for helping us establish Horses of Sleepy Meadows Ranch. We could not have done it without you and Damon. I have so much to say but you know what is in my heart. Thank you again. Dear Deanna,  I know your love and spirit will always watch over  us and the horses on Guam, Damon and the childten. Remember how one day a chicken flew up and sat on your head? Also, how China China would dance for you when you came to the ranch always joyously wagging her tail when she saw you. Sweating in the sun cleaning horses, pulling weeds, building the round pen and riding, cookouts by the campfire. All treasured memories. I loved how you stood for honesty, integrity,  and forgiveness when I was wrong you forgave me and came back to the ranch.. I  havr high hopes for Shanna and Ty aND most of all your  eternal love for Damon. Thank you. Words can not explain how I felt when I heard the news. Deanna was a fantastic person, I can remember the two of us sending the riding lawn mowers in for service while Demon and Charlie were gone. At least yours would start with help from the neighbor. You guys did our going away pizza with Donna and Joe. Watching blue collar comedy tour. North Carolina was a fantastic time and I am so glad we got to know you guys and share good times.

Deanna, You will be missed!   Greg & I met Damon & you when you both invited us over to dinner because I could not cook when we were all stationed in England.  During the time we were there,  we spent time together & became friends.  We always hoped to see you both again & now wish we had not put it off for tomorrow.

Our condolences to Deanna's entire family. My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet Damon and Deanna and their two kids when Damon was stationed in Maine. It was a pleasure to be able to share their passion for horses with ours....I am sure Deanna will be riding in heaven!
