

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Matousek, who left us on January 8, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 3, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa, Dennis spent most of his life in Arizona, where he built a legacy of love, loyalty, and unwavering generosity.
He is the oldest of 3 brothers and is survived by the youngest, Jim Matousek. Dennis was a devoted father to his four daughters, a proud grandfather of two, and a cherished great-grandfather of nine; he was the heart and soul of a large and loving extended family. His presence brought warmth and strength to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dennis was a passionate and accomplished professional sprint car driver, living life in the fast lane both on and off the track. His love for racing extended beyond his own career, as he found joy in helping others pursue their dreams in the sport or any other business venture. Whether offering guidance in racing or security, Dennis was always there—ready to lend a helping hand with kindness and dedication.
Those who knew Dennis will remember him for his steadfast loyalty and boundless generosity. He was the kind of man who would give you his last dollar without hesitation, embodying the true meaning of selflessness and compassion. His infectious spirit and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. While we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the countless memories and the profound impact he had on our lives.
A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held on February 22 at Bobby Q's in Phoenix from 12-4 pm, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the incredible man he was.
