Derry Lee Gates passed away Peacefully on November 29, 2016 surrounded by Loved ones. Born Derry Lee Barnhart on October 17, 1943 in Phoenix Arizona. She graduated from South Mountain High School in 1961 where she played varsity tennis and was a member of many other school clubs. Derry is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 50 years Laurence R Gates. Derry is survived by her son Jeffrey Paul Gates (Starr); three step children Richard Neal Gates (Christine), Michael Wayne Gates and Tammi Zufall (Bryan), 9 grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Alice, Anna, Lauren, Taylor, Chris, Kirsten and Lauren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters Judy, Kathy; and one brother Willard Barnhart Jr.; many nieces, nephews and cousins and her Granddog Psy. She was brutally honest which was refreshing and often times hilarious. She Loved camping and Fishing with family and shopping from catalogs. Derry will be dearly missed by those who knew and Loved her.
