Don,

This will probably be the last entry, and that is the way it should be. We began life together as very young people.  We had a great life.  I loved you and you loved me.  I don't think there is much more that needs to be said.  We did not have any regrets.,   I wish you were here.  I miss you.  Bought the lot we talked about and the new car -  got the Lexus -  you would have liked it -  it doesn't lock all the time.  I will always be glad for the memories we shared.  We had a great life.  Thanks for the memories.  I will always love you.

Marilyn, Mike and Dawn,  My Dad just came over today and told me about Don.  I am very sorry for your loss.  Although I didn't know Don very well because of the distance , I always liked him and respected him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.  Don was a great man to have worked with.

Dad, the best men in my life, you Steve Mitch Luke are all men of few words.  Unfortunately, the best women in your life - me , Mom, Claire, and all the girls ARE NOT.  But in this case I'll try to respect you.
I love you dad - Thanks for all you did.  Some big shoes to fill!  Say hi to Uncle Wally, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandma, Grandpa, Dalton, Andrea, and everyone else  - a bit of a crowd up there!  Love you.  Dawny

Henk and I were so saddened to hear of Don's passing.  When Henk shared the news with me, he said "my heart breaks for Marilyn" and I couldn't agree more with his sentiments.  What a wonderful marriage and partnership you two had - something we greatly admire.  You have all of our best wishes and love, and most sincere sympathies.

Dad was a man of few words but many actions. I was lucky to have him in my life.  My goal is and will always be to be as good a father and husband as he showed me how to be.

Chief Schoenike was a real CHIEF in the Air National Guard and our unit.  He had national vision and was a great mentor to me for years.  Your combat boots will be hard to fill.

Marilyn - Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family!  I am so blessed to have know Don, and the fun we had every year putting the luminaries together for Sonoran Hills, this year all the lights in the neighborhood will by shinning for Don!

22 June 1962 I was lucky to such a grand couple to stand up with Shirlene and I at our wedding. Ramstin Germany started a whole life time of good times.
We were blessed to have Don with us as long as we did. I thank god for that.
Just think as I write this few lines, My Shirl is explaing to Don why you too locked your selfs in the truck went the wild bees were chasing Don and I.

I had the typical son-in-law relationship. Visit on the major holidays etc. That all changed in 2006. We jointly embarked on a cabin project up north that had an ad that read "an unfinished cabin". It had no power, no water, no heat, just a shell of wood with 2x4 separating each room. Basically a wooden tent. Don and I took on this project and added, porches, railings, outside staining, electrical outlets, light switches, water tank, solar power, batteries, voltage inverter, indoor insulation, propane heating, propane water heater, furniture, carpet, cabinets, plumbing, toilet, tile, bath tub and shower, beds, doors, indoor wooden siding, drywall, shed, refigerator and range, and so on and so on. Seven years worth of us working together through all the issues. We talked constantly about what to do next and how to do it. Niether one of us really knew what we were doing. It was a team effort. Since he was retired he was able to do research and buy the supplies we needed or prepare the wood or whatever the next project was. We would meet there for the weekend and I did most of the manual labor. He was the coach or the quarterback however you want to look at it. He was better at some things than I and I was better at some things than he so we made a great team. I will miss my team mate/coach. My childeren will inherite a nice place to take their families in the future due to a major major contribution from Don. Our goal was to complete it in 10 years. We were on a good pace. Missed it by 3. Marilyn, we would not be where we are without his contributions. From all the conversations we had at night up there I think he took great satisfaction in what we have accomplished. Couldn't have done it without him that is for sure.

I had the privilege of working with Don at the Air National Guard.  He was a mentor and a friend.  Please accept my condolences on your loss.  Marilyn, you and your family will be in my prayers.

We'll miss Don at the bowling tournaments greatly. Love you both and am so sorry for your loss. All our love and prayers from your Colorado buds.

Don will be so terribly missed;  the angels just got a great bowler on their team.  Marilyn, you know our love and prayers go out to you & family in this most difficult time.  Our thoughts are with you always.

It seems that when we need words to express ourselves they never seem to surface. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

Dear Marilyn, I am so shocked to read about the passing of Don. How, why, what?  You were so lucky to have found such a dear man.  He has been such a complete man.  Husband, father and grandfather.  With all his health issues he was always able to rise above them. Please know that you have my complete sympathy and that you may feel free to call , just to talk.  My dear friend, this will be tough to deal with.  God  bless you and know that we are thinking about you and your family.
