Dora Lee Danforth was born to the union of Earl Danforth and Jessie Jackson on March 18, 1929 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas. She attended elementary school at Elm Grove Community School. Dora gave her life to Christ Jesus at an early age and united with the Elm Grove Baptist Church. She later moved to Waco, Texas where she continued her education and spiritual connections. She graduated from Moore High School.
Dora later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she received an Associate Degree in Nursing at Phoenix
Community College. However, Dora worked her way up the ladder at AT&T from 1969, until she retired in 1991. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church for over 60 years. After her health began to fail, Dora moved to Denver, Colorado to live with her daughter, Audrie, and her husband, Terry in 2009. While in Denver, she attended the Denver Potters House and various other churches.
Dora had a passion for sports, outdoor activities, and traveling to various places. Dora never allowed any “shade to grow under her tree”. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor.
She was very family oriented and enjoyed celebrating with family and friends at the Jackson/Wilson/Sanders/Robinson annual family reunions. She loved all of her cousins and viewed them as her biological siblings. Dora was a devoted daughter, mother, mother-in-law, niece, cousin, and friend. Dora loved her mother, Jessie, whom she took care of for 13 years after she suffered a stroke in 1978. She was very proud of her daughter, Audrie, and son-in-law, Terry. Dora helped so many family members by her unselfish acts of generosity and kindness.
Dora departed this life on March 14, 2014 in Aurora, Colorado , fulfilling a great desire to be with the Lord . Her loving family understands; still, we are saddened. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Danforth and Jessie Jackson.
Dora leaves to cherish her memory: daughter and son-in-law, Audrie Relf-Sims and Terry Sims of Aurora, Colorado; family and friends- Beverly Dunbar, Dalyn Blue, Charles Levell, Hebert Enge, Gene Blue & The Blue Family, Louis and Katrina Epperson, The Diamond Family, Warren Keys, Nichelle Stiggers, The Relf Family, Dr. Faye Rison, and a host of cousins, and friends.
