Here is the whole Daily Bread for April 17, 2026. The day we laid mom to rest. God bless her. She endured.

I, Roxane Kunz, cherish all times that I share with the Meintel family. Pat was an inspiration to all who knew her. My friendship with her was blessed by the Lord. We will miss you my dear friend but are happy you are with the Lord Jesus, Father God, and dear family members and friends. 
                                  Rest In Peace

For many, many years Scott and Pat shared a blessed time every morning. They would read in The Daily Bread, a devotional, together. Whether they were in separate cities or sitting across from one another they spent this time together at the feet of Jesus. For many years they took turns reading, but the last few years Scott would just call and read to Pat. So how fitting is it that this is The Daily Bread for the day we all gathered together to lay her to rest?

When I think of mema, my brain goes back to a place in time I visit frequently. A place I miss so deeply but treasure all of the memories. From special cereals waiting for us on the kitchen counter to back tickles before bedtime… Its those times I treasure so deeply. Mema made it a priority to keep all of our favorite things consistent so every time we walked through the door of her home, you get hit with a big loving wave of memories and love. The smell of brandy and gingerale will forever remind me of mema and papa. 

One specific memory I have of mema happened to be at papa’s funeral. We were looking down at him for the last time and she turned to me and said with tears in her eyes, “I just want to hug him so bad”. 

Well mema, go hug your one true love! And give him one for us too.

We have always loved Pat and the Meintel family as they shared their lives with us and made us feel like we were part of the family as they made it easy to feel like you belong. The years have gone by so quickly and my kids are now grown but they remember the times with Pat and will miss her very much as we all will but our hope in Jesus reassures us of better things to come of a glorious day when we will all be gathered together never to be apart again but to be with our Lord and the loved ones that went before us.  Oh What a Glorious Day That will Be!

i love to think this is how papa greeted her when they met again in heaven. he was such a great dancer and always took the opportunity to dance with mema if the right song was on. their love was so special to her and meant everything to him. cheers to dancing together in heaven forever <3 xoxo chelsea

my sweet mema was there for me at every milestone. every birthday there was a phone call to start the day and a gift wrapped waiting for me in the morning. she loved all of us (her grandkids) so so much and our memories of her will go on forever, we love you so much mema.

I was a lucky girt growing up next door to my cousins Pat and her brother Dick.  In fact they each were more like a second sister and a brother to me than cousins!    When Pat was 16 years old, I was 8 years old  and I loved sitting in her bedroom during her high school years while she got ready for her dates (and there were many of those because she was so popular!). She had many friends and loved all of them.  During her entire life Pat was thoughtful and kind to everyone and proved her friendship to others over and over again.  Pat was often my my "go to" person when I needed prayerful advise  or I needed to vent.   Never once did she fail to help me through whatever situation I needed guidance in.  She certainly loved Gordy and their  three (3) dons with all her being  and was proud of them.  She walked in Christian faith and anyone who knew her could see the peace she had with Christ.  I thank God that I grew up with such wonderful cousins next door!   Pat was my cousin, a 2nd sister and my friend.  Everyone who knew her knew that she she cared about them and would be there for them!  Thank you Pat for your faithfulness!

We have fond memories of leaf peeping in Massachusetts with Pat and Gordy.  They are together now for eternity.  May they rest in peace.
