

Dorothy P. (Wesseler) Danford, age 91, of Phoenix was taken home to be with her Lord on May 28, 2016. She was at John C. Lincoln hospital surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on January 7, 1925 in Lorraine, KS to Walter and Frances Wesseler. She graduated from Lorraine High School in 1943. She attended Sterling College for 2 years and then enrolled in Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, graduating in 1947 with a degree in home economics education. While at K-State, she met her husband Richard, a World War II veteran. They were married January 18, 1948 at the First Baptist Church of Lorraine, Kansas. She was a kind-hearted, sweet, generous, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She focused on her family. Dorothy was a strong woman of faith. She worked tirelessly for her church, including projects with the American Baptist Women. Dorothy developed lifelong friendships. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, a perfect hostess. She looked forward to exchanging good recipes her entire life. Dorothy was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, and college teams from Arizona and Kansas. Dorothy also took pleasure in doing word search puzzles.
Survivors include; daughter Joanne Michael (J.D.) of Peoria, daughter Joyce House of Tucson, son Richard C. Danford II (Sheila) of Phoenix, and daughter Tamara Kay (Jeffery) of Yuma; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard of 57 years; her parents, a brother Delmar Wesseler and a sister Nelda Margason. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Living Streams Church, 7000 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85020. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
