

Born on August 9, 1936, in Fort Thomas, Arizona and growing up in Miami Arizona, Dottie was the heart and soul of her family—a woman known for her kind spirit, endless love, and unwavering devotion to those she cared for. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dottie lived a life of service, compassion, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gates McAlister, the love of her life. Dottie is also reunited with her parents, Thomas and Nell Billingsley, and her siblings Barbara Stewart, Neal Billingsley, Lois Clayton, Betty Van Winkle, and Dale Billingsley.
She is survived by her children: Mark McAlister, Kevin McAlister, and Linda Bennett (Kevin). She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Billingsley and Evelyn Phillips, 11 cherished grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
To her family, Dottie wasn’t just Grandma—she was the world's best grandma. She poured her heart into making every holiday magical, every birthday special, and every ordinary day filled with love. Her home was a haven of hugs, chocolate chip cookies, and scrapbooks that told the story of a family bound together by her love. She was passionate about preserving memories and documenting family history, ensuring every generation knew where they came from.
Dottie had a special way of taking care of people—whether it was her family, her neighbors, or a stranger in need. She truly loved people and made everyone around her feel valued and seen. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy will live on through the love she gave so freely.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Dorothy “Dottie” McAlister.
She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
