Edith passed away November 2, 2011 at Elder Care Home, where she lived for the past seven years. She was 97 years old. Edith was born in Calau, Germany, December 14, 1913. Edith moved to Phoenix in 1960, and received her U.S.A. Certificate of Naturalization in 1965. Edith was employed in the Tempe School District #3, as a Library Cataloger, until she retired. Edith was a very active member of the Austrian Society and the Dank Society for over 25 years. Edith is survived by her best friend, Mary Stallard, who was her P.O. A. and saw to all her needs for the last 8 years, her son Juergen P. Meissner, grandson Thomas Meissner, granddaughter Suzanne Jacobs, and great-grandchildren, Connor, Brooke, Brock, and Thomas. Edith was preceded in death by her ex-husband, parents, and other relatives and friends. Services will be held on November 16, 2011, 11:00 AM, at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Cremains will be inurned at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Mary requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Breast Cancer Foundation.
